Estella Alarid

Evangelina Estella Alarid, age 95, passed away April 13, 2023 at her home in Santa Rosa, NM.

Estella was born March 10, 1928 in Upper Dilia, Guadalupe County, NM to the home of Polito and Serafina Sanchez Baca.  She married Candido Alarid December 17, 1945 and spent her entire life on ranches in Torrance and Guadalupe counties.  A life-long Catholic, Estella was a parishioner of Saint Rose of Lima Parish.

Estella loved to go to the casino (and had the discipline to stop when she was ahead), hunt arrowheads, she also enjoyed reading, crocheting and making burritos for everyone.

Estella is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her granddaughter: Candace Miller, her grandson: Brian Alarid, daughter-in-law: Flora Alarid, son-in-law: Harold (Skip) Miller, her brothers: VJ, Pablo and Mel Baca and her sisters: Nora Ortiz and Emily Duran.

Survivors include her children: Bea Winn, Candido Alarid, Susan (Bernie) Encinias, Danita (Karl) Agar, Carl (Karen) Alarid and Dion (Eva) Alarid.  Estella is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and her sister: Merlinda Sandoval, as well as numerous family and friends.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11AM, immediately followed by The Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM.  Father Sotero Sena will officiate the service.

Interment will follow at the Dilia Cemetery in Dilia, NM, with Greg Miller, Candi Alarid, Gary Agar, Shawn Agar, Steven Alarid, Marcus Alarid and Lukas Alarid serving as Pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers will include: Iris Cordova, Jolynn Alarid, Carlynn Alarid and Christina Alarid.
