Ernesto Aragon

Ernesto Aragon, 76 of Vaughn, NM, passed away on June 9, 2023, in Albuquerque, NM.

Ernesto was born on March 18, 1947 in Vaughn, NM to Frank P. Aragon and Eloisa (Gallegos) Aragon.  Ernesto was raised in Vaughn, where he also attended school—graduating from Vaughn High School.  Following graduation, Ernesto went on to attend NM Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. 

Ernesto worked for NM Department of Transportation—retiring after 26 and a half years of service.  In addition to his career with NM DOT, Ernesto also worked at The People’s Store, in Vaughn, for approximately 25 years.

In his spare time, some of Ernesto’s hobbies included chopping and cutting wood and drinking a few beers.  Ernesto also enjoyed placing bets and watching CSI.

Ernesto is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Terry Gonzales and husband Manuel.

Ernesto is survived by his wife Mary Ann Aragon of Albuquerque, NM, his children: Gabriel (Charlotte) Aragon and Audrey Aragon-Brito, of Albuquerque, NM, his grandson: Ramon Brito and his siblings: Ismael (Vidal) Aragon, Frank (Manuelita) Aragon, Julia (Jimmy) Sanchez and Rita (Alex) Garcia, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Services and burial of cremains will be announced at a later date.
