Ernest "Ernie" W. Baker We are sad to announce the passing of our father, Ernie Baker, age 65 of Tucumcari, NM on January 14, 2023. Ernie is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Edythe "Sis" Aguilar and his mother and father, Sandra Oglesby and Gene Oglesby. He is survived by one brother, Joe Baker of Nevada. Ernie was a longtime resident of Tucumcari since moving here as a young child and he would not call anywhere else home. Ernie graduated from Tucumcari High School and started his own mechanic business, Baker's Exxon and U-Haul. Ernie has two children, Heather Baker (Stoney and Ruby), and Cassidy Baker. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and a niece Danica Arguello (George) and great niece/nephews. Ernie's service station was an icon on Tucumcari Boulevard and he was known in the community for his mechanic skills and love of serving locals and tourists at his station. After this endeavor he did mechanic work for the City of Tucumcari and worked many years as an Airport Attendant at the Tucumcari Airport. As per Ernie's wishes cremation will take place, his ashes will be spread near his childhood home. No services are planned at this time.
