Emma C. Lucero passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, July 25, 2020. Emma was born in Yeso, NM on April 9, 1929. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jose Elijio Lucero, daughter Christine, son Ernest (Brenda), grandchildren Felicity (Press), Emmanuel, Joseph (Tracey), and Melanie. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren whom she adored, and many nieces and nephews that always kept in touch with her. Other survivors include two brothers Tito (Eileen) Chavez, Alfonso (Maggie) Chavez, four sisters Lou Archuleta, Oralia Chavez, Albertina Chavez, and Juanita (Nick) Pino. Emma is preceded in death by her beloved son, Junior Lucero, her parents Frank and Dolores (Lola) Chavez, and a brother Frank Chavez, Jr. Emma married J.E. Lucero on November 4, 1950, they made their home in Encino until recently moving to BeeHive Home in Edgewood, NM. Emma was an excellent cook and homemaker. She made everyone feel at home. She would set a plate even if you were just a politician out campaigning! Emma would cut Ernest and Junior's hair into a "flat top", and soon all the Encino boys would be in her kitchen getting the "flat top". She was a kind and generous lady. She made friends everywhere. She would receive gifts from all over the U.S. When asked "Who is that from?" she would say, "I met her on one or our camping trips". Emma loved to do "Liquid Embroidery", her steady hand made many beautiful dish towels and pillowcases that are still in many of our homes. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She would pat her lap and say "Come Sit Here". When they got down from her lap the kids had her red lips on their cheek or forehead. Emma had friends who called her on a weekls basis; same day, same time. She looked forward to the calls. Heaven is welcoming her. The time has finally come: "EEEEE! Maybe Predicanda Die" (An inside family joke) The Lucero family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at BeeHive Homes for the love and support they extended to "Miss Emma and her family.
