Dolores Lucille “Doris” Tapia, 78 of Santa Rosa, NM passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Dolores was born on July 1, 1942 in Tucumcari, NM to the home of Guadalupe and Elvera Ortega. Dolores worked for many years at McDonald’s in Santa Rosa and prior to this she worked for over 20 years at Guadalupe County Clinic under many physicians. Dolores was a parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She also enjoyed the time she spent with her loving family and she is fondly remembered for enjoying life in general. Dolores is preceded in death by her parents and a brother; Johnny Ortega. Dolores is survived by her husband; Tomas Tapia, her children; Yolanda Tapia-Rivera, Andrew Tapia, Nancy Sena and David Tapia, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her sisters; Sophie Howe and Fern Romero (Johnny) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Holy Rosary and Funeral Mass were held at 9:30am, Monday, September 14, 2020 at St, Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Fr. Christopher Bernabe officiating. Interment of cremains followed at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Urn Bearer were Jeremiah Huerta, with Honorary Urn Bearers being all Dolores’ grandchildren. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Social Distancing guidelines, services will be private and limited to the immediate family. We ask that you keep Dolores and her family in your prayers.
