Dicky Madrid, 82 of Santa Rosa, NM passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Dicky was born on July 19, 1942 in Santa Rosa to Jose Isabel Madrid and Amalia (Armijo) Madrid. He was raised in Santa Rosa and Clovis, and attended St. Rose School in Santa Rosa. 

On May 14, 1964, Dicky married the former Dolores Garcia at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Together, Dicky and Dolores made their home in Santa Rosa, where they raised their children. In his career, Dicky worked as a cook at Sun n Sand Restaurant, The Club Café and The Adobe Inn. More recently, Dicky worked as a custodian at Truck Stops of America, retiring in 2012.

In his spare time, Dicky enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling and novelas on TV, cutting wood and working on the ranch, however his greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family—particularly his grandchildren.

Dicky is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Dolores in 1978, his children: Richard, Thomas, Johnny and Grace Madrid, his granddaughter: Natasha Serrano, his siblings: Felipe Madrid, Lupe Madrid, Alex Madrid, Theodore Madrid, Michael Madrid and Maida Sandoval and his step-mother: Ferminia Madrid.

Dicky is survived by his children: Patty Madrid Serrano, Carolyn Madrid, Nancy (Shawn) Lopez—all of Santa Rosa and Manuel (Julie) Madrid of Edgewood, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his siblings: Corina Garcia, Marie (Antonio) Bachicha, Rita Sanchez, Jose, Jr. (Virginia) Madrid and Julian Madrid.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 8, 2025, beginning at 10am at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Rev. Sotero Sena officiating.

Interment of cremains will follow at La Morada Cemetery in Santa Rosa, with Josh Serrano, Robert Serrano, Marcos Apodaca, Kenneth Lopez, Nathaniel Madrid and Manny Madrid serving as Urn Bearers.
