David Luna, 84 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Rust Medical Center, on March 2, 2020. David was born on August 29, 1935 to the home of Emilio Luna and Irene (Fajardo) Luna in Puerto De Luna, NM. David was reared in Puerto De Luna where he attended school and later graduated from Santa Rosa High School. After graduation David was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1954 and proudly served his country. On April 14, 1962, David married Linda Grant, and following his marriage, he moved to El Cajon, California where he worked for Moon Concrete, retiring in the 1980’s. After his retirement, David moved back to Santa Rosa where he made his home. David was an active member of the Campos Senior Citizens Center and the Puerto De Luna Senior Citizens Center. He was also a parishioner at Nuestra Señora De Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna. In his spare time, David had many hobbies including reading maps, reading history, studying medical books and was an amateur photographer. David is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda in 2014, and sons; Eugene and Andrew. David is survived by his son; Larry Luna of El Cajon, California, his sister; Oma Gutierrez and husband Florencio of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, his brother; Paul Luna and wife Grace of El Cajon, California, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Nuestra Señora De Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna, NM, with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at El Calvario Cemetery in Puerto De Luna, with Larry Luna, Sean Luna, David Justin Luna, Kevin Luna, Jacob Luna and Ariel Luna serving as Pallbearers.
