Crystal Ann Cones

A graveside service for Crystal Cones will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Fort Sumner Cemetery with Tommy Irwin officiating.

Crystal Ann Cones, 44 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at University of NM Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. She was born September 18, 1980 in Fort Sumner, the daughter of of Mickey and Sheryl (Moore) Cones. Crystal grew up in Fort Sumner, attended Fort Sumner schools graduating in 1999. After highschool, she worked as a housekeeper for the Super 8 Motel for several months. She served as the Secretary for the De Baca County Chamber of Commerce for a time. Crystal was a cashier for Food Mart in Fort Sumner before joining the Allsups Convenience Store as a clerk at Fort Sumner and Santa Rosa for 14 years. She also worked at Carl Jr.'s  in Santa Rosa for several years. No matter where she worked, Crystal always had that wide warm smile for all her customers.

An illness in 2014 led to complications that lasted several years, and kept Crystal working close to home. She married David Crockett in Fort Sumner, NM in 2018. They made their home in Hooker, Oklahoma where Crystal worked as a secretary for a farm/ranch operation. She became a foster mother to a 2 year old child for over 4 years, she loved children. Crystal loved cruising and listening to music. She enjoyed crocheting, planting flowers every spring, and along with her family visiting Angel Fire, NM to fish and camp. In her last illness, Crystal has been hospitalized since January 31, 2025.

Crystal is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Norman and Delores Moore, paternal grandparents, Clarence and Louise Cones, an uncle Ricky Cones, and two cousins JLisa Moore, and Kaleb Moore.

She is survived by her husband David Crockett of Hooker, OK, her parents Mickey and Sheryl Cones of Fort Sumner, a brother Michael Cones of Fort Sumner, Aunts and Uncles, Dana Moore Smith and husband David of Roswell, NM, Janell Moore Ball and husband Dennis of Castle Rock, CO, Nathan Moore and wife Nancy of Rosamond, California, Roy Lee Cones of Fort Sumner, Janice Cones of Sedalia, Missouri, Judy Garcia and husband Javier of Clovis, New Mexico, and a sister in law Denise Cones of Fort Sumner, her mother-in-law Mary Crockett of Hooker, Oklahoma and a brother in law Kevin Crockett and wife Kat of Lovington, New Mexico along with many cousins, other relatives and friends.
