Margie Gutierrez

Corina (Margie) Gutierrez, 72 a longtime resident of Vaughn, NM passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at her home in Santa Fe, NM following an illness. She was born February 04, 1950 in Vaughn to the home of Elias and Manuela (Trujillo) Aragon. Margie attended and graduated from Vaughn Schools. Margie married Albert Gutierrez on August 3, 1968 at Ranchos de Taos, NM. Margie worked as a waitress at several Vaughn restaurants for many years. Margie and Albert owned and operated The Eagle Nest Drive Inn in Vaughn and also owned and operated the Phillips 66 Service Station from 1981-1985. Margie was also active in the Vaughn community. She served on the Vaughn Town Council and as Mayor Pro-Tem from 1988-1994. Margie and Albert made their home in Santa Fe in 1999. Margie was a member of Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Church in Santa Fe and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn. While living in Vaughn, Margie enjoyed meeting her friends at a local coffee shop. She enjoyed crafts, painting, crocheting, making custom jewelry and rosaries, Diamond painting, writing in her journal, and watching crime shows on TV. Margie is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Albert Aragon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be missed by her husband of 54 years, Albert Gutierrez of Santa Fe, two sons Patrick Gutierrez (Stephanie) of Santa Fe, Daniel Gutierrez (Rubi) of Edgewood, a daughter Albertina Lahargoue (Phil) of Santa Fe, two sisters Kathie Lucero of Vaughn, Bernice Sanchez (Don) of Vaughn, and a brother Dickie Aragon (Anna) of Tijeras. Also surviving are five grandchildren Jessica Romero of Albuquerque, Andrew Gutierrez (Desirie) of Santa Fe, Patrick E. Gutierrez (Natasha) of Santa Fe, Brian Gutierrez of Santa Fe, and Albert-Anthony Gutierrez of Santa Fe, three great-grandchildren Skarlett Adams, Nathan Gutierrez, Vicente Gutierrez, and two additional great grandchildren expected in the next 5 months. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM. Holy Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 29, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn with Father Sotero Sena officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Pallbearers will include Margie's grandsons and nephews, Patrick E. Gutierrez, Andrew Gutierrez, Brian Gutierrez, Albert-Anthony Gutierrez, Martin Sanchez, and Christopher Lucero. Honorary bearers will include Orlando Garcia, Raymond Garcia, Toby Garcia, Manny Cordova, and Steven Cordova. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
