Clara Sisneros Chavez

Clara Sisneros Chavez, 92 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Clara was born on November 4, 1929 in Colonias, NM to Ramon Sisneros and Vicenta (Romero) Sisneros. Clara was raised in Colonias, where she also attended school. On July 4, 1949, Clara married Lorenzo Chavez at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM. Clara was a life-long resident of Santa Rosa where she was a parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Clara was active in the Church, annually helping cook for the Saint Rose Fiestas. Clara also gave of her time in helping prepare funeral meals and serving the annual Thanksgiving meal held by the Methodist Church and Masons. Clara worked at various motels in Santa Rosa, she also worked at the Comet Drive-In with her sister Paula and worked for various families cleaning homes. In her spare time, Clara enjoyed quilting, embroidering and was an avid Lions fan-supporting all her children and grandchildren. However, her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family. Clara is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Lorenzo Chavez, her infant son, Great-Grandson; Jayaire Sarabia, daughter; Mary Frances (Pedro Cordova), Grand-Daughter; Mariah Cordova, Grand-Daughter; Denise Chavez, Great-Grand-Daughter; Jaelyn Rodarte and Grandson; Joshua Chavez, sisters; Vitalia Lucero and Rita Rivera and brother; Ramoncito Sisneros. Clara is survived by her children; Arthur (Peachy) (Mary Jane) Chavez, Teresa (Marcos) Salas, Abel (Lettie) Chavez, Patrick (Diane) Chavez and Raymond (Angela) Chavez—all of Santa Rosa, her siblings; Chona Mares, Paula Salcido, Demecia Hall and Chris Sisneros, her 17 Grandchildren, 33 Great-Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren, as well as numerous family, relatives and friends. Visitation will be Monday, December 13, 2021 from 4-7pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa, and again on December 14, 2021 from 9-10am at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will begin at 10am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church and will be officiated by Father Sotero Sena. Clara will be laid to rest at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa with Zachary Velasquez, Tessa Salas-Gauna, Damian Chavez, Derrick Chavez, Lorenzo Chavez, Pedro Keith Cordova and Nathan Cordova serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Alfredo Sonny Chavez, Chemo Arrellin, Jessica Lucero and all Clara's Grandchildren.
