Chris Gomez

Juan “Chris” Gomez, 87 of Santa Rosa, NM passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025.

Chris was born on December 15, 1937 in Santa Rosa to Guadalupe Gomez and Rosa (Garcia) Gomez. Chris was raised in Santa Rosa, where he attended school—graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1956. 

On February 16, 1958, Chris married the former Maida Anaya in Santa Rosa. For 20 years, from 1956 to 1976, Chris proudly served his country in the US Air Force. Upon retirement from the Air Force, Chris returned to Santa Rosa, where he was a businessman. A Knight of Columbus, Chris was also a devoted parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Chris was also active as a volunteer firefighter for the Santa Rosa Fire Department and with the local VFW.

Chris is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Maida in 2012 and brothers: Wilfred Gomez, Richard Gomez, Al Gomez and Fred Gomez.

Chris is survived by his children: Patricia (Craig) Stark of Portales, NM and Phillip (Shari) Gomez of Norfolk, VA, grandchildren: Jared Cook and Stacy Ciancio and great-grandchildren: Allison and Alexzander Ciancio, his siblings: Gilbert (Faby) Gomez, Georgia Gomez, Deborah (George) Lopez and Danny (Cindy) Gomez, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be Friday, February 14, 2025 at 11AM at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa.
