Bernice M Martinez

Bernice M. Martinez, 73, formerly of Tucumcari, NM passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Presbyterian Hospital Downtown in Albuquerque, NM. She was born on June 22, 1945, in Tucumcari, NM to the home of Joe and Lucy Gonzales and raised by Ignacio and Nicholasa (Martinez) Ulibarri. She was reared and attended school in Tucumcari and was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari. Bernice married Benito A. Martinez on May 4, 1963. Bernice is preceded in death by her birth parents Joe and Lucy Gonzales and adoptive parents Ignacio and Nicholasa Ulibarri, son Alex Martinez, daughter Bernadine Martinez, brothers Max and Sammy Gonzales, and sister Corine Sisneros.  Survivors include her husband of 53 years Benito A. Martinez; daughters Lisa Martinez and husband Dennis of Aztec, NM and Monica Burns of Albuquerque, NM; son Julian Martinez of Tucumcari, NM; grandchildren  Jeremy, Alicia, Jonathan, Vanessa, Manuel, Donna, Darius, Dedra, Jakus Zach and Alex; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Jimenez, Helen Garcia, Mary Garcia, and Debbie Jennings; and brother Jimmy Gonzales. Also surviving are numerous other family and friends. Visitation will be just prior to the Rosary from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at St. Anne's. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary is scheduled for Thursday, April 25, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari, NM and the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 3:00 P.M., with Father John Paul Afuecheta officiating.  Interment will take place at Tucumcari Memorial Park.  Pallbearers will be Jeremy Burns, Manuel Martinez, Zach Martinez, Dennis Martinez, Nicholas Garcia and Michael Chavez.
