Beatrice Duran

Beatrice I Duran, 85 of Vaughn, NM passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Beatrice was born in Duran, NM to Jimez & Ignacita Madril on April 14, 1938.  Beatrice was raised in Duran, NM with her adopted parents, Juan & Victorita Villanueva.  She graduated from Vaughn High School in 1958.  Beatrice married Arsenio Duran on April 18, 1959 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Beatrice was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Parish, where she also worked as a secretary for eight years.  Beatrice also worked at the Senior Center as an Assistant cook for ten years. Both she and her husband served as Eucharistic Ministers and were also members of the church choir. She was also a member of the Mt. Carmel Society from San Juan Bautista Church in Duran, NM. Beatrice and Arsenio enjoyed the company of their family, and loved going to dances, playing bingo, and going to various events with the church choir. They both were very active in the community and were well loved throughout Guadalupe County.

Beatrice is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years. Arsenio, her son Martin, her baby daughter, Nancy, her brother, Modesto Madril, her adopted parents, Victorita & Juan Villanueva, and her Beloved Great-Granddaughter Erin Berumen, as well as her biological father and mother, Jimez and Ignacita Madril.

Beatrice is survived by her daughter Brenda Berumen Duran (Ricardo), & her four grandsons, Mikal Duran (who she raised as a son) (Josette), Rick Berumen, (Delila), Nicolas Berumen (Maria), And Morgan Berumen, (Mya), and a granddaughter Michelle Duran.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Alexandria, Aubriana, Anabelle, Abel, Dominic, Martin, Mica, and Mathias, her brother-in-law, Tony Duran, and sister-in-law, Patsy Duran.  She is also survived by many half-siblings from the Madril families, and many nieces and nephews from the Duran, Larranaga, and Villanueva families.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM at 11AM, with Father Timothy Meurer officiating the service. Visitation will be from 10-11AM at Saint Mary’s on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Interment will follow in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn with Ricardo Berumen, Mikal Duran, Rick Berumen, Nicolas Berumen, Morgan Berumen and James Rey accompanying Beatrice to her place of rest.

Honorary Pallbearers are Michelle Duran, Aaron Nelson, Matthew Nelson, & David Sanchez, whom Beatrice treasured and included in her nightly prayers.
