Barbara A. Benavidez

Barbara A. Benavidez, 71 of Tucumcari, NM passed away peacefully on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Rust Presbyterian Medical Center in Rio Rancho, NM. Barbara was born on December 9, 1949, in Genova, NM to Feliciano Gallegos and Eulalia (Miranda) Gallegos. Barbara was raised in Logan, NM and Tucumcari, NM, where she also attended school. Barbara was a long-time resident of Tucumcari and a parishioner of Saint Anne’s Catholic Church. Being a devoted Catholic, Barbara had a special devotion to Saint Therese after experiencing a personal encounter. Barbara loved the time she spent with her family—especially her grandchildren. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Cidro Gallegos, Joaquin Gallegos and Eloy Gallegos and her sister; Nellie Lopez. Barbara is survived by her sons; Alvin (Judy) Benavidez of Tucumcari, NM and Gilbert (Roseanne) Benavidez of Bernalillo, NM, her grandchildren; Felicia Roybal, Michelle Benavidez (Bryan), Matthew Benavidez (Carla), Gilbert Benavidez, Jr., Sherri Hay (Ryan), Jessica Benavidez, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her sisters; Efinita Garcia of Dumas, TX and Rena Xuereb of Albuquerque, NM as well as numerous family, relatives and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 1-4pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa. Visitation will also be just prior to services on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 10-11am at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Friday, October 8, 2021 at 11am at Saint Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Tucumcari Memorial Park with Matthew Benavidez, Bryan Brown, Nicholas Brown, Gilbert Benavidez Jr., Ryan Hay, and Anthony Garcia serving as pallbearers.
