Aurelia Lynn Arias

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Aurelia Lynn "Abby" Arias on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

Abby was born on November 29, 1966, in Tucumcari, NM, to Marcos and Nellie Arias. She grew up in Tucumcari where she attended school graduating in 1985 and was a parishioner at St. Anne's Catholic Church.

Abby was a beloved Mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and touched countless lives with her humor, warmth and love. She was deeply devoted to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Whether it was telling jokes, sharing stories, or simply being present, she brought joy to every moment spent with them.

Abby was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, Steven Muñoz, a brother-in-law, Woody Wampler, and former husband Michael Ousley.

Abby is survived by her daughters, Amber Ousley (Arturo Alcantar) and Samantha (Josh) Hyslop; her grandchildren, Taylor Lopez, Tayden Hyslop, Joshua Hyslop, Melanie Lisabelle, McKenzie Garcia, Jaelyn Gray, Mason Hyslop, and Avery Hyslop. She is also survived by her sisters, JoAnn Smith (Robert Trujillo) Sylvia Wampler, Betty (Ramon) Muñoz, and Nancy (Ignacio) Macias; her nieces and nephews, Shelley (Erich) Freundner, Tina (Donnie) Garcia, Marc (Julie) Wampler, Michael (Chrissy) Wampler, Brandi (Larry) Varnado, Agustin Muñoz, and Miranda Wampler. Additional survivors include her uncle, Jose Arias; her former Mother-In-Law Mary Sweet Ousley, her cousin and caregiver, Shannon Martinez; her close friend, Mercy Lopez; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, family members, and friends.

Urn bearers will include Joshua Hyslop and Mason Hyslop. Honorary urn bearers will be Taylor Lopez, Tayden Hyslop, Melanie Lisabelle, McKenzie Garcia, and Avery Hyslop.

Services for Abby will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 306 W. High St. in Tucumcari, New Mexico 88401. The Rosary will take place at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Abby’s final resting place will be at Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery.
