Arsenio Duran, 85, of Vaughn, NM passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at his home on Sunday, October 28, 2018. Arsenio was born in Vaughn to the home of Pedro Duran and Maria (Montoya) Duran on February 1, 1933. He attended school in Vaughn and retired from the State of New Mexico as a supervisor. Arsenio was a life-long resident of Vaughn and parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and The American Legion. Arsenio is preceded in death by his parents; Pedro and Maria Duran, a son; Martin Duran, a daughter; Nancy Duran, sister; Irene Luna and brother; Paul Duran. Arsenio is survived by his wife of 59 years; Beatrice, daughter; Brenda and husband Ricardo Berumen, brother; Tony and wife Joel Duran, two sisters; Clara Stewart and Patsy Duran, Grandsons; Mikal and wife Josette Duran, Ricky Berumen and girlfriend; Delila Aragon, Nicolas Berumen and girlfriend; Diana Ocon and Morgan Berumen, and Granddaughter; Michelle Duran. Arsenio is also survived by numerous Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be said Saturday, November 3, 2018 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn at 10:00 A.M. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Christopher Bernabe officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Serving as Pallbearers are; Mikal Duran, Nicolas Berumen, Ricky Berumen, Morgan Berumen, Tony Duran, Phillip Luna and Leroy Rael. Visitation will be Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 1pm to 4pm and Friday, November 2, 2018 from 1pm to 4pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.
