Arnold Gallegos

Arnold Gallegos, 82 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM. Arnold was born on December 29, 1938 in Santa Rosa, NM to Antonio and Josefita (Via) Gallegos. Arnold was raised in Santa Rosa, where he graduated from high school. Following graduation, Arnold enrolled at New Mexico Highlands University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. Arnold’s career included work as a surveyor for Los Esteros Dam, he served several terms as the Treasurer of Guadalupe County and completed his career with the City of Santa Rosa. Arnold was an active parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church and he was a Charter Member and 4th Degree Knight in the local Knights of Columbus council. Arnold was a member of the Moise Library Board, Saint Rose of Lima Restoration Committee, Rotary Club and frequented the Campos Senior Citizen Center in Santa Rosa. Some of Arnold’s hobbies included arrowhead hunting, reading, doing crossword puzzles, he was a proud supporter of the Santa Rosa Lions and he particularly enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends. Arnold is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Ernestine Trujillo (Gilbert), Cordelia Snow (Everett), Carrie Campos (Emery) and Oma Mettert (Norm) and brothers; Antonio Gallegos (Terry) and Jerry Gallegos. Arnold is survived by his sister; Grace Gallegos, sister-in-law; Patsy Gallegos as well as numerous nephews, nieces, Godchildren, family and friends. Visitation will be Monday, August 16, 2021 from 1-4pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Monday, August 16, 2021 at 6pm at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 10am at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa concelebrated by Father Sotero Sena and Father Christopher Bernabe. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery with Mark Gallegos, Jason Houlihan, Greg Gallegos, Raymond Gurule, Dominic Gurule, Donald Via and Marcus McCord serving as Pallbearers.
