Antonia Lydia Sena, 92 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, July 22, 2023.
Visitation hours for family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 27th from 1pm to 6pm at Chavez Funeral Home.
Holy Rosary and the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 28, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner with her son, Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery with Matthew Sena, Daniel Sena, Jeremy Sena, Josh Sena, Michael Villa, Matt Orosco, Mario Sena, Nathan Pacheco, and Carlos Sena serving as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be all her remaining grandchildren.
Antonia was born February 21, 1931 in Fort Sumner, NM to the home of Sotero and Gomesinda (Lopez) Saiz. She grew up in Fort Sumner and attended Fort Sumner Schools. Antonia married Anastacio Sena on November 27, 1946 in Fort Sumner. She worked as a nurses aide for over 30 years at De Baca General Hospital and Pecos Valley Care Center.
Antonia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Anastacio Sena in 2007, an infant son Mario Sena, son David Sena on June 7, 2020, granddaughter Cindy Sena on September 5, 2001, grandson David Sena Jr. on November 5, 2020, great-grandsons Josiah Gomez and Carlos Anastacio Sena, two brothers Roman Saiz and Samuel Saiz, five sisters Adela Apodaca, Rose Sena, Eloida Sandoval, Alicia Lopez, and Celina Villa and two daughters in law, Beatrice Sena, and Jane Sena.
A loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, she will be missed by her family. Survivors include seven children, two daughters Marcy Garcia (Joe) of Clovis, Barbara Pacheco of Alamogordo, five sons, George Sena (Martha) of Rio Rancho, Father Sotero A. Sena of Fort Sumner, Jerry Sena of Clovis, Anastacio Sena Jr., (Theresa) of Fort Sumner, Carlos Charlie Sena of Fort Sumner, a daughter in law Mary Sena of Albuquerque. Also surviving is one sister Frutosa Madrid of Fort Sumner along with 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends.
