Anthony M. Micelli, 66 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2023 at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.
Anthony was born on August 4, 1956 in Santa Rosa, NM to Ramona Micelli. Anthony was raised in Santa Rosa, where he also attended school and graduated from Santa Rosa High School. Following high school, Anthony joined the US Army, where he served his country honorably.
Anthony’s career included working at White Sands Missile Range, Sandia National Labs and as a CO at GEO. Most recently, Anthony lived under the care of The Spinal Cord Injury Center at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque. Anthony was a proud veteran, a parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, a Raiders fan and loved riding his motorcycle.
Anthony is preceded in death by his mother: Ramona Micelli and his grandmother: Encarnacion “China” Madrid.
Anthony is survived by his children: Mark (Renee) Micelli of Santa Rosa and Samantha (Carlos) Olguin of Albuquerque, his grandchildren: Anthony (Chema) Micelli, Monica (Joslynn) Micelli and Madison and Mia Micelli. Anthony is also survived by his siblings: Rachel (Jeff Favors) Terry, Toni Micelli, Sam Micelli—all of Las Cruces, NM, Jeannie Gutierrez-Horowitz (Michael) of Chicago, IL, Dennis Micelli of Phoenix, AZ and Frances Gallegos of Santa Rosa, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, June 9, 2023, from 1-6 PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.
Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, immediately followed by The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 10 AM, at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating.
Anthony will be laid to rest, with Military Honors, at Nuestra Señora Del Refugio Cemetery in Puerto De Luna, NM, with Anthony Micelli, Carlos Olguin, Aaron Marshall, Howard Griego, Monica Micelli and Jeff Encinias serving as Pallbearers.
The Micelli family extends a heartfelt ‘Thank You” to the doctors, nurses and staff at the VA Hospital for the excellent and kind care they gave to Anthony.
