Anna Mae Yearley

Anna Mae Yearley, 86 of Cuervo, NM, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, February 26, 2023.

Anna Mae was born on October 11, 1936 in Cuervo, NM to Raymond Avants and Alma (Armstrong) Avants.  The Avants family homesteaded along the Alamogordo Creek in Guadalupe County many years ago.  Anna Mae attended school in Santa Rosa—graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1955.  On August 19, 1955, Anna Mae married Earl Yearley in Santa Rosa.

For many years, Anna Mae worked as an Election Judge for Guadalupe County and helped cover the Post Office in Cuervo, NM, when she was not busy being a homemaker.  Anna Mae was a member of Grace Assembly Church in Santa Rosa.  Anna Mae enjoyed sewing and liked to make her own clothes.  She also liked to crochet, cook and bake, and she also enjoyed gardening.  Anna Mae enjoyed the companionship of her dog: Peewee, and particularly enjoyed the time she spent with her loving family.

Anna Mae is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl as well as her paternal and maternal Grandparents.

Anna Mae is survived by her sons: Paul Richard (Juanita) Yearley of Santa Rosa, John Raymond (Bonnie) Yearley of Eagle Nest, NM and Earl Andrew Yearley of Ramah, NM.  She is also survived by her granddaughters: Janie Lynn Yearley (Cesar Becerra) of Albuquerque, NM and Linda Marie Yearley and partner: Dr. Craig Vermette of Albuquerque, NM, as well as her great-grandchildren: Estella Marie Dunagan, Skyler Jai Carbonell and Andrew Stephens.  Anna Mae is also survived by numerous family and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 1-6PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa, and again on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 10-11AM at the First Baptist Church in Santa Rosa.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11AM at the First Baptist Church in Santa Rosa, with Pastor Beau Lamb officiating.

Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Santa Rosa, with Walter Jones, James Dunagan, Cesar Becerra, Dale Apodaca, Michael Lucero and Steve Chavez serving as Pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers will include: Lonnie Mendez, Johnny Martinez, Brandon Gutierrez, Colter Lamb, Alex Brite and Vera Medina.
