Richard Gutierrez

Richard Gutierrez, 73 passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute in Las Vegas, NM following an illness. He was born June 3, 1936 in Albuquerque, NM the son of Frank and Candelaria (Gurule) Gutierrez. Richard attended schools in Albuquerque. He married Mary Pacheco on December 17, 1957 in Santa Rosa. Richard operated a carwash in Albuquerque for three years; worked as an Auto Mechanic for several years and for many years worked at Square Deal Food Market in Santa Rosa. Richard enjoyed collecting coins; he was a longtime member of the Campos Senior Citizen Center in Santa Rosa and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He also served as Guadalupe County Commissioner in the early eighties. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Ron Gutierrez, a granddaughter he raised, Kandi Gutierrez., Brother; Danny Gutierrez, sisters; Celia Gonzales and Frances Candelaria. Survivors include his wife Mary Gutierrez of the home in Las Vegas; two sons Richard L. Gutierrez and wife Rhonda of Santa Rosa; Randall A. Gutierrez and wife Delores of Edgewood, NM; two daughters Elizabeth Audrey Gallegos and husband Arturo of Albuquerque; Annette A. Gutierrez of Clovis. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Ronnie Eugene Gutierrez Jr. of Clovis, Jazzmin Ann Rose Bentacu of Albuquerque, Manuel Alarcon, Anissa and Rochelle Gutierrez, Jamie Holden, Brandon Gutierrez, Cherie Foster and Natasha Gutierrez, and great granddaughter, Brooklyn Aragon, great grandson; TJ Veit , one brother, Frank Gutierrez and wife Doris of Louisiana; five sisters, Margie Orosco of Albuquerque, Marcella Gutierrez of Santa Fe, Helen Chavez and husband Joe of Los Angeles, CA, Gloria Gutierrez of Albuquerque, Clara Lucero and husband Freddy of Las Vegas, NM, along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 7:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 11, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Joseph Thomas CMI officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Serving as Pallbearers will be Carlos Romero, Jr., Pablo Griego, Ernest Chavez, Epimenio Romero, Tom Martinez, Jr. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Gutierrez, Joe Eddie Martinez and Blas Madrd.
