John “Johnny” William Black, 76 of Clovis, NM died Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Plains Regional Medical Center. John was born July 17, 1930 on the family ranch north of Fort Sumner, the son of Stephen Marcus Black and the former Ida Esther Banks. Johnny loved to play the guitar, color, play the harmonica, and work at ENMRSH. While working at ENMRSH he received several medals in the Special Olympics. He was a hard worker who loved to work in his yard. Johnny was loved and will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother S. Jay Black. Survivors include two sisters Loveta Clark and Ellavie White of Clovis; a nephew M.L. White of Viola, Arkansas and a host of great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 17, 2007 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner, NM with Rev. Wayne Boydstun Assistant Pastor at Parkland Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 804 N.
