Jennie Lynn Sherwin, 57 a resident of Fort Sumner since May 2005, died Sunday, February 18, 2006 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following a sudden illness. Jennie was born August 3, 1949 in Burbank, CA the daughter of Gordon Shirlee Jacks and the former Mildred Martha Shirley. She was reared and attended school in North Hollywood, CA. She loved designing and creating jewelry, especially earrings. She made her home in Elizabeth City, North Carolina for over 20 years. She was a loving daughter, mother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her father in law George Sherwin; a brother Michael Carter, and maternal grandparents Duel “Joe” Shirley and Olland Shirley. Survivors include her ex-husband John James Sherwin of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; a daughter Becky McCorkle and husband Richard of Huntsville, Ohio; mother Mildred Kussman of Fort Sumner; father Gordon S. Jacks and wife Donna of Green Valley, CA; sisters Sharon Hoejas and husband Cook of California; Melinda Cones of Fort Sumner; brothers Tommy Jacks and wife Jodie of Fort Sumner; Daniel Jacks of Fort Sumner; grandchildren Raven McCorkle and Zoly McCorkle; nieces and nephews Sierra and Cameron Jacks of Fort Sumner; Anthony Jacks and wife Michele of Moreno Valley, CA; Daniel Jacks Jr. and wife Danay of Hemet, CA; Hanna Jacks and Brent Jacks; an aunt Sue O’Dell of Orangevale, CA. Cremation has taken place and no local services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM.
