Noel (Moose) Martin

Memorial Service 11:00 am Friday 5/22/09 Graveside - Ft. Sumner Cem. Noel Martin, 61 of Fort Sumner died Monday, May 18, 2009 at his home. He was born September 18, 1947 in Clovis, NM the son of J.R. “Whitey” Martin and the former Margaret Lacy. Noel attended and graduated from Fort Sumner High School in 1965. He attended ENMU for three years before returning to Fort Sumner. Noel worked with his father for many years at Janeway and Martin Liquor Store in Fort Sumner. He was an avid supporter of Fort Sumner school athletics. He worked as an emergency dispatcher for De Baca County for several years and more recently worked as a Correction Officer with the De Baca County Detention Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Jim Martin and Bob Martin and a sister Shirley Powell of Tucumcari. Noel is survived by a brother Burrell Martin of Artesia, NM several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 22, 2009 at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
