Sue Sloan, age 74, of Fort Sumner, New Mexico passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at her home in Fort Sumner. Sue was born December 19, 1932 in Norplet, Arkansas to the home of L.T. Fitch and the former Ora C. Fitch. She was reared and attended schools in Norplet, Arkansas and Penwell, Texas. She married Dan Crenshaw on April 10, 1948 in Odessa, Texas. Dan passed away in 1988. She later met Roy Sloan and they were married on June 15, 1992 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Sue was a member of The Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed painting, needle work, wood working, as well as crocheting and reading. She worked hard as a housewife as well as being a librarian for the village of Fort Sumner, and the Civil Defense Coordinator for De Baca County. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Dan Crenshaw, and a sister Dorothy Demment. She is survived by her husband Roy Sloan of the family home in Fort Sumner a son, Ron Crenshaw and wife Cookie of Elida, NM ; two grand-daughters; Cari Dickerman and husband Gary of Melrose, NM and Kim Crenshaw of Phoenix, AZ; a great-grandson Brayden; and two brothers; James Phillips of Fort Worth, TX, and Learon Phillips of Odessa, Tx. Viewing will take place on Friday, December 22, 2006 at the Chavez Funeral Home from 10 am to 6pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, Decemeber 23, 2006 from the First United Methodist Church in Fort Sumner, NM with Rev. Keith Niehaus officiating. Pallbearers will be Bobby Russ, Robert Pennington, Steve Gallegos, Tom Bob Wilton, Bob Addison, and Tracy Martz. Burial will follow at La Lande Cemetery.
