Judy Lyn (Marchman) Sims, 56 of Fort Sumner, NM died Thursday, July 05, 2007 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, NM following an illness. Judy was born September 13, 1950 in Clovis, NM the daughter of James Ferrell Marchman and the former Billie Lyn Watson. She was reared and attended school at Clovis until her sophomore year. She moved to Fort Sumner in 1964. Judy married James (Jim) Eldon Sims on March 4, 1967 at Clovis, NM. She graduated from Fort Sumner High School in 1968. Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved reading, craftwork, cooking for her family, and gardening. While her children were in school she was a sports mom and athletic booster. She also worked with her children on their 4-H projects and enjoyed boating and water skiing with her family. Judy and Jim worked side by side in their farming and trucking business for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner. Judy was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Jim Sims of Fort Sumner; son Derrell Sims of Fort Sumner; two daughters Meredith D’Ann Cleaver and husband James; Cathleen Gonzales and husband Paul all of Clovis; four grandchildren Cooper Cleaver, Jaron Gonzales, Jerrica Gonzales and Anthony Gonzales all of Clovis; two sisters Dana and husband Mike Hester; Michelle and husband Kevin Jones all of Grandbury, TX. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 9, 2007 from the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner with Rev. Jim Peabody and Rev. Coy Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Visitation hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 1PM to 6PM at the Chavez Funeral Home, 804 North Fifth Street; Fort Sumner, New Mexico. (505) 355-2311.
