Ernesto Madrid

June 17, 1946 — October 12, 2007

Ernesto “Neto” Madrid, 61 a lifelong resident of Puerto De Luna, NM went home to be with his Lord on October 12, 2007. Neto was born June 17, 1946 at Puerto De Luna to the home of Narciso and Elena (Dodge) Madrid. During his younger years, Neto helped his Granpo Roman Dodge clean the Guadalupe County Courthouse where his Granpo worked as a custodian. Later on in life, he enjoyed helping out in the family farm in Puerto De Luna. Ernesto loved life. He enjoyed going to Lion football games, parades, and senior citizen dances. “Neto” also enjoyed watching western movies, listening to Spanish music and coaxing his mom, dad or other family member to take him riding to Santa Rosa for ice cream or a hamburger. He was a member of Nuestra Senora de Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna. He was preceded in death by his father Narciso; a brother Frank; nephew Pedro Baca III and his special grandparents Roman and Manuelita Dodge. Ernesto was a loving son, brother, uncle and cousin. He is survived by his mother Elena Dodge Madrid of the home in Puerto De Luna; two brothers Joe N. Madrid and Andy (Sylvia) Madrid both of Santa Rosa; four sisters, Patsy Madrid of Santa Rosa, Toni (Pete) Baca of Bernalillo, NM; Lorraine Madrid of the family home in Puerto De Luna and Gloria Madrid of Santa Fe. Also surviving are two nephews Frank and Marty Madrid of Puerto De Luna along with many other nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, other family and friends. “Neto” was a bright shining star to his family and to everyone who knew him. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed. Vaya con Dios hijo, tio, y amigo. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 from Nuestra Senora De Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from the church, Father Nick Nichols will officiate. Burial will follow at Nuestra Senora De Refugio Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Frank Madrid, Marty Madrid, Pete Baca, George Dodge Jr., Manuel Dodge, Romie Maestas, Ramon Gallegos and Alex Tapia. Honorary bearers will be his great nephews and nieces along with his many friends from Puerto De Luna. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 923 S.
