Maggie A. Gutierrez

Margarita A. “Maggie” Gutierrez, 80 a longtime Santa Rosa resident died Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following an illness. Maggie was born September 11, 1927 in Plainview, Texas to the home of Pedro and Ignacia (Montoya) Aragon. She married Carlos L. Gutierrez on August 7, 1944 in Santa Rosa. Maggie worked for several years as a custodian at the Methodist Church, Santa Rosa Public Library and at local motels over the years. She enjoyed crocheting, making blankets, angels, and playing cards with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Maggie was preceded in death by two daughters Connie Saiz and Grace Gutierrez, her father Pedro Aragon, mother Ignacia Pacheco step-father Leandro Pacheco; two brothers Severo Aragon and Louie Pacheco. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend she will be missed by her husband Carlos L. Gutierrez of the family home in Santa Rosa; three daughters Helen Saiz and Rudy; Betty Jean Garcia and husband Estevan of Albuquerque; Marcie Mathies and husband Mike of Belen, NM; 12 grandchildren Alfred Saiz, Sharon Saiz, Wilfred Saiz, Yolanda Neel, Anthony Saiz, Daniel Saiz, Andrea Saiz, Stevie Garcia, Mario Garcia, Desiree Gallegos, Ernie Gonzales III, and Cynthia Gutierrez along with 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters Lucia Gutierrez and husband Marcelino of Santa Rosa; Mary Gutierrez and husband Richard of Las Vegas; Josie Martinez and husband Tommy and Clara Romero all of Santa Rosa; two brothers Gilbert Pacheco and Ernest Pacheco and wife Sophie of Albuquerque along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, November 16, 2007 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 17, 2007 from the church with Monsignor Sipio Salas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
