Frances Pearl Hopper, 91 of Clovis and formerly of Fort Sumner died Monday, June 11, 2007 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis following a sudden illness. She was born May 17, 1916 south of Taiban at Dureno, NM. Frances married Jimmie Hopper on September 28, 1934 at Clovis, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy; two grandsons, Stanley Don McLain and Billy Cheyne; her parents Jesse and Sara Carroll and two sisters, Johnny Rose Penner and Alice Monroe. Frances is survived by five children, Carlene McLain of Clovis; Joyce (Jimmy) Neagle of Bountiful, Utah; Carroll (Marylee) Hopper of Fort Sumner; Wynell (Jan) Richards of Roswell; Phyllis (Donnie) Dobbins of Clovis; two step-daughters Imogene Cheyne of Tulsa, OK; and Edna Marie McIntire of Lubbock, TX. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 16 great-greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 14, 2007 from the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner with Rev. Stormy Swann officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Brian McLain, Jeff Neagle, Kevin Neagle, Slugger Hopper, Garrett Richards, Lance Richards, Jimmy Don Dobbins, and Bobby Hopper. Honorary bearers will be Vickie Burnett, Shelly Swann, Cindy McLain, Debbie Walton, Tonya Rogers, Toni Pendergrass, Shauna Smith, Allan Lee McIntire, Jimmy Wayne McIntire, Cheryl Boyd, Sally Goodnight, Cheri Sayles, and Mary Murrell. The family prefers memorial contributions to the Fort Sumner Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 180, Fort Sumner, NM 88119. Visitation hours will be Wednesday from 1PM to 6PM at the funeral home.
