George Bush (G.B.) Hisel 79, of Clovis went home to be with The Lord Jesus Christ on January 29, 2007. He was the first of two sons born to Glen and Adaline (Martin) Hisel on May 1, 1927 in Yeso, NM. He was raised in Yeso and attended high school in Fort Sumner. George served in the Army during WWII, spending time in Germany. Upon returning from the war he married Geraldine (Gerry) Robinson, December 25, 1948. Following their marriage they pursued his heritage of ranching. He was a man who was willing to work hard to provide for his family. To make ends meet he ventured out into other occupations. He got into the trucking business, owning several trucks, and he also owned a feedlot. His level of success enabled him to return to the ranching business. While ranching he was a real estate agent, he farmed, trucked – hauling cattle and feed, and grubbed mesquites. He had the ability to recognize quality cattle and was presented with many cattle judging awards. During his lifetime, George bought and sold several ranches in New Mexico and Texas. He was diligent to improve and develop his land to maximize productivity. As a result of this he won several awards for his soil conservation practices. He was a person of integrity and character who lived the cowboy life. George’s true passion and the purpose of his life was his love for The Lord, God’s Word, and leading others to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. He cherished the time he experienced in his younger years teaching junior boys in Sunday school. He later became a lay preacher, reopening churches in Claunch, NM and Oran, TX. In 1984, while preaching in Adell, TX, he became an ordained Baptist Minister. He went on to pastor in Weatherford, TX, Floyd and Santa Rosa, NM. His desire to spread the good news of God’s love beyond the church, inspired him to minister to others through a truck stop and jail ministry in Santa Rosa. In these last years he served as a supply preacher for the Eastern NM area and worked the jail ministry in Clovis. George never ceased to share the love of Jesus with any one, any where, any time. One doesn’t have to be a national hero to be a hero and he was an example to all of us as to how to live, to love and even how to die. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Don. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gerry, of the home in Clovis; one son Dr. Glen Hisel and his wife, Carol, of Clovis; two daughters Roby Adams and her husband, Larry, of Albuquerque; Quanah Bold and her husband, Ralph, of Clovis; 8 grandchildren Lance (Leola) Adams and Colt (Rachel) Adams of Albuquerque; Summer (Landon) Lunsford of Clovis; Joshua (Bevin) Bold of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Luke, Catherine, Jacob, and John Hisel of Clovis; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
