Albert A. Chavez

Albert A. Chavez, age 78 of Santa Rosa, NM passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at his home following an illness. He was born May 1, 1929 in the Colonias area to the home Alberto and Margarita Olivas Chavez. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Albert served in the United States Army from 1950 through 1956 with the 747 Engineering Company as a Heavy Machine Operator. He married Carmen Velasquez on October 1953 in Santa Rosa. Albert worked for Mr.Charlie Sanford for 20 plus years, he later worked for Truckstops of America as a Senior Maintanence Technician for 20 years. After the death of his wife Carmen, he married Diana Flores on September 4, 1987. He loved riding his motorcycle, camping, and being with his family. He was a jack of all trades. Albert was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Carmen Chavez, his parents, grandsons; Aaron Nelson and Jose Chavez, sisters; Jessie Chavez and Connie Aragon, Brother's and sister in Law; Alex Velasquez, Pat Velasquez, Alfred Velasquez and Marcella Padilla. Survivors include his wife Diana Chavez of the family home in Santa Rosa, children; Theresa Chavez (Gabriel) of Bernalillo, Roy Chavez (Rose) of Clovis, Susan Nelson (Clyde Sanchez) of Las Vegas, NM, Pauline Kadell (Dean) of Clovis, Ruth Olson (Ken) of Clovis, Santiago Chavez of Santa Rosa, Joanna Chavez of Santa Rosa and a grandson he raised Ricky Nelson of Santa Rosa, brothers and sisters; Ernesto Chavez (Rose) of Albuquerque, Ramona Padilla (Lalo) of Vaughn, Fernie Chavez (Viola) of Santa Rosa, Lizzie Romero (Carlos) of Santa Rosa, Corrine Chavez (Johnny) of Santa Rosa, Annie Campos (Leroy) of Santa Rosa and Margaret Padilla (Victor) of Albuquerque. Also surviving are his Father and Mother in Law; Manuel and Mary Flores of Santa Rosa, Brother's and Sister's in Law; Inez and Dennis Garcia, Manuel and Louann Flores, Andrew and Olivia Flores, Suzette and Darryl Romero, Ivanna Flores, Frank Chavez, Maria Velasquez, Isabel Martinez, Patsy Velaquez, Emetero and Terry Velasquez, Junior and Mildred Velasquez, Max and Gabby Velasquez, Marlene and Pat Gallegos, Dolores and David Cordova, Tony Padilla, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Friday, September 14, at 7:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 15, at 9:30 AM also from St. Rose Church with Msgr. Sipio Salas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Serving as Pallbearers will be Ron White, Julian Olivas, Fernie Chavez, Ernie Chavez, Erminio Chavez, Manuel Flores, Alfonso Gomez, Manny Flores, and Andrew Flores. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be his God Children; Elise Flores, Robert Campos, Adina Chavez, Aaron Nelson, Jaydn Moncayo, Patricia Velasquez, Albert Padilla, Alicia Moncayo, Cecelia Padilla, George Moreno, Dicky Martinez, and Arthur Marquez.
