Syble (Spitz) Hendrix, 86, of Eufaula, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday July 14, 2010 at the Epic Medical Center. Syble was born on December 31, 1923 in Turkey, Texas to John Robert and Daisy (Lovings) DeFoor. Syble attended and graduated from House High School in House, New Mexico. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Syble married Willie Spitz on September 30, 1940 in Fort Sumner, NM, he precedes her in death. Syble later married George A. Hendrix on December 11, 1999 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Syble worked as a LPN Nurse for over 40 years in Fort Sumner, Melrose, Tucumcari, and Santa Rosa. Syble also worked as a nursing home administrator for the Robin's Nest Nursing Home in Melrose for over 15 years. She was a member of the North Fork Baptist Church in Eufaula and was a longtime member of The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner. Survivors include: her husband, George Hendrix, of the home in Eufaula, OK; two sons, William Spitz and wife Pat, of Las Animas, CO; Joe Spitz and wife Carla, of Lamar, CO; a daughter, Carol Spence and husband Ronnie, of Clovis, NM; two sisters, Elveda Spitz, LaVone Haga and husband Bud, both of Clovis, NM; eleven grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Willie Spitz in 1982; parents, John and Daisy DeFoor; and a daughter, Willene Whinnery in 2005. Funeral services will be held in Eufaula, OK at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday July 17, 2010 at North Fork Baptist Church with Mike Scifres and Byron Kennedy officiating under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home. In Fort Sumner services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday July 20, 2010 at The Church on The Hill with Pastor Anna Teeter officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Cody Spitz, William Spitz, Joe Spitz, Kyle Spitz, Willie Daniel, Scott Daniel, Jim Whinnery and Randy Whinnery.
