Santana Coronado, 90 of Fort Sumner died Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Laurel Ridge Nursing Center in Clovis, NM following an illness. Santana was born April 25, 1916 at Alamo, NM to the home of Alfredo Lucero Sr. and the former Camila Lopez. Santana married Roman Coronado on May 10, 1939 in Fort Sumner. She was a housewife and a homemaker. Santa was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. She was preceded in death by her husband Roman Coronado in 1995; her parents; an infant son Emelio Salvado Coronado, three brothers Frank, Jimmy and Alfredo Lucero. Survivors include a nephew raised as a son Larry Lopez and wife Tracy of Roswell; three grandchildren; three sisters Jessie Martinez and Irene Madrid of Albuquerque, Rebecca Lopez of Fort Sumner; and a brother Jake Lucero of Fort Sumner. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007 from St. Anthony Catholic Church led by her nephew Tom Madrid. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated from the church at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, January 3, 2007 with Father Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Ramon Lopez, Pat Lopez, Freddy Madrid, Perry Lopez, Tony Lucero, and Manuel Lucero. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
