Anas Cleo Head, 106, a resident of Clovis for the past 2 years and a resident of Fort Sumner since 1948, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at the Laurel Ridge Care Center in Clovis. Anas was born in Montague County, Texas on July 18, 1901, the daughter of Thomas Walter Nail and Sarah Elizabeth Butler Nail. She was reared and attended school in Hollis, Oklahoma. She married David Elmer Head on July 26, 1930 in Harmon County, Oklahoma. She & her husband farmed cotton. After they stopped farming cotton, they hauled hay for many years. She worked side by side with her husband as well as caring for family and home. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She drove herself faithfully every week to services in Melrose or Clovis well into her 90’s. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, and visiting with friends and family, including many she would visit in the nursing home. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1976, a son – Emmit , four sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren. Survivors include three sons – Dwain Head of Tucumcari; Dub Head and his wife, Norma of Fort Sumner; Ray Head and his wife, Joan of Chico, California; one daughter – Isabell Brown and husband, Dee of Tucumcari, a daughter-in-law, Joan Head of Little Rock, Arkansas; a brother – Cleon Nail of California; 14 grandchildren and numerous great and great, great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Sumner with Mr. Robert Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Fort Sumner Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Lonnie Hendrix, David Head, Matt Daniels, C. J. Newman, Frankie Martz, and Clifford Gunn. Honorary Pallbearer will be her many friends and family.
