Maria Dolores “Lola” Quintana, age 90, passed away on July 6, 2010 at the Sierra Springs Assisted Living in Los Lunas following an illness. Lola was born on February 2, 1920 in Colonias, NM to the home of Ventura and Prudencia Hoehne Maestas. She married Chris Quintana on October 3, 1940 in Newkirk, NM. Lola worked as a concession stand manager at the local drive inn theatre, she was also a cook at various restaurants and worked for Mountain Bell as a Duplicatior. She was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Sacred Heart. She enjoyed playing bingo, cooking and quilting, she was a long time member of a quilting club. Lola is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chris Quintana and her sister Amada Madrid. Survivors include her daughters; Josephine Marez and husband Pete of Santa Rosa, Charlotte Shaw and husband Jerry of Paradise Valley, AZ, her sons; Jerry Quintana of La Quinta, CA, Herb Quintana and wife Judy of Eugene Oregon. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Thursday, July 08, 2010 at 7:00 from St. Rose of Lima Church., Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 9, at 11:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Bill Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers for Lola will be her grandchildren; Peter Marez, Patrick Marez, Dennis Shaw, Paul Marez, Charles Shaw and Janet Shaw. Serving as Honorary Bearers will be her 10 great-grandchildren. All services for Mrs. Quintana have been entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
