Geraldine “Jean” Young, 88 a resident of Yeso, NM for the past five years died Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at her home in Yeso. Jean was born November 15, 1918 in Elkhart, Kansas the daughter of Charles White Prather and the former Clova Ann Glace. She was reared and attended schools in Garden City, Kansas. She married Fremont Bertrum Young in 1935. Jean worked for Lockheed Martin during World War II; she later worked in a care center in Foothill, CA and in the production line at Cal Fame Foods. For many years she was a clerk at a Mom & Pop market in San Fernando, CA. Jean was a member of The Church On The Hill in Fort Sumner. She enjoyed playing cards and watching the trains pass through Yeso. Prior to a stroke she loved to crochet. She was an excellent cook and she loved to go shopping. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Fremont Bert Young; a daughter Barbara Smith; a brother Ted Prather and a sister Lola Crawford. Survivors include a daughter Marlene Renshaw and husband Jerald; a son John Young all of Yeso, NM. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren along with many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday; August 23, 2007 from The Church on the Hill in Fort Sumner, NM with Anna Teeter officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 28, 2007 from Glen Haven Memorial Park in Lake View Terrace, California. The family asks that memorials be made to your favorite charity in Jean’s memory.
