Loveta B. Clark, 96 of Clovis, NM died Monday, July 12, 2010 at Plains Regional Medical Center. She was born July 4, 1914 in Goree, TX to the home of Stephen Marcus Black and the former Ida Esther Banks. She moved with her family to Fort Sumner in 1929 where she attended school. Her father worked as a barber and ranched north of Fort Sumner. Loveta married Robert “Bob” Clark on March 31, 1934 in Fort Sumner. Loveta worked as an accountant for the C.C. Camps; she later worked for Southwestern Public Service in Santa Rosa for several years. She also worked for many years as a Civil Service finance officer at Cannon Air Force Base until her retirement. She made her home in Clovis in 1976. Loveta is a longtime member of Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis, she enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time in her garden and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Loveta is preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” Clark in 1980; a son Robert W. Clark Jr. in 1996; her parents and two brothers Samuel Jerome Black and John William Black. She is survived by one sister Ellavie Ione White, a nephew M.L. White and his wife Helen all of Clovis, NM. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 15, 2010 from the family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Boydston of Parkland Baptist Church officiating.
