Erlinda M. Chavez, age 64, of Santa Rosa, NM passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at St. Theresa Healthcare in Albuquerque following an illness. Erlinda was born on May 29, 1946 in Denver, CO to the home of Frank and Clarita Sandoval Marquez. She was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Erlinda worked as a cook at the Senior Citizens, she also worked at numerous Motels and at Subway. She attended Luna Community College where she studied Culinary Arts. She enjoyed sewing, walking and going to the lake. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren. Erlinda was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Marquez, a son, Jordan Aragon; grandson, Joshua Harrison; Infant Brother, Pablito Marquez; her grandparents; Erminda Sandoval, Juan Sandoval, Ofelia Marquez and her uncle that she cared for Vicente Marquez. Survivors include her mother; Clarita Marquez of Albuquerque, her children; Eric Aragon and wife Mary Alice, Nancy Whinery and husband James, Phil Aragon and wife Danielle, Olivia Aragon and husband James and Sonny Aragon all of Santa Rosa, Maggie Ortega and husband Mark of Puerto De Luna, April Jones and Patty Jones of Baltimore, MD, Will Chavez of Albuquerque and Crystal Romero and husband Daniel and Bubba of Puerto De Luna. Also surviving is Erlinda’s sister; Gloria Chavez and husband Orlando of Belen, brothers; David Marquez of Santa Rosa, Kenneth Marquez and wife Lisa of Albuquerque, 22 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 7:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Joseph Thomas, CMI officiating. Burial will follow at El Calvario Cemetery in Puerto De Luna. Serving as Pallbearers will be; Eric Aragon, Jr., Bryan Aragon, Jason Aragon, Lee Ray Harrison, Jacob Salas, Eddy Salas, Lucas Aragon, Christopher Aragon and Kenneth Marquez, II. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be; Ernest Marquez, David Marquez, Daniel Romero, James Whinery and Paul Chavez.
