Geneva Altie Gentry, age 91, of Fort Sumner passed away October 22, 2001 at the Pecos Valley Care Center in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Mrs. Gentry was born May 10, 1910 in Echo Arkansas to the home of William Madison Norris and the former Anna Margie Burrowes. She war reared and attended schools at Echo, Arkansas and Hugo, Oklahoma. She married Samuel Gentry on November 6, 1936 in Roswell, New Mexico. They made they home in Fort Sumner in 1958. Geneva was a member of the Church of Christ. She liked to crochet and read in her spare time. She also enjoyed gardening and canning. Geneva was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Gentry on October 2, 1984; and four brothers Carl, Curtis, Raymond, and Buel Norris. Survivors include one son Sam Gentry and wife Pat of Lake Arthur, New Mexico; and a sister Mildred Morris of Roswell, New Mexico. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 26, 2001 at the South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren and nephews. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner.
