Alice B. Marquez

Alice (Baca) Marquez, 62 of Santa Rosa, NM died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following a short illness. A Rosary will be recited at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 PM Saturday, December 4, 2010. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, December 6, 2010 at St. Rose of Lima Parish with Father Joseph Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation hours will be Friday and Saturday from 1PM to 6PM. As per Alice's wishes cremation will take place on Sunday. Alice was born September 16, 1948 in Pintada, NM the daughter of Geraldo and Socorro (Esquibel) Baca. She was raised in Sombrillo and attended school at Pintada and Santa Rosa. Alice married George Marquez on July 6, 1970 in Santa Rosa. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Alice enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, visiting the casinos and lottery scratchers. She is preceded in death by a son Jason Paul Marquez on April 25, 2008; her father Geraldo Baca and a sister Gloria Ortega. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by her husband George Marquez of Santa Rosa; four sons Ernest Marquez, John and wife Hollee Marquez; Joseph Marquez and girlfriend Angela Lucero; Patrick Marquez; one daughter Christine Marquez all of Santa Rosa; her mother Socorro Baca of Santa Rosa; five sisters Candy Lucero of Milagro; her twin sister Anna Baca of Santa Rosa; Lillian Baca of Corpus Christi, TX; Frances Salas of Rowe, NM; Louisa Ulibarri of Farmington, NM; four brothers Celedon Baca of Clovis; Gerald Baca of Santa Rosa; John Baca of Tucumcari and Don Baca of Maxwell, NM. Other survivors include two grandsons Jason Paul Marquez Jr. and Scott Tena along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
