Bob Franklin, 82 of Tolar, NM died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at his home following an illness. Bob was born December 29, 1924 at the family home in Tolar, NM. He was reared and attended school at House, NM. Bob Married Kate Louise Mitchell on September 12, 1946 at House, NM. He was a longtime cattle rancher. Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church in Melrose, NM for the past 53 years. He enjoyed wood working, and caring for his cattle and horses. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Bob was preceded in death by his parents C.C. and Clara Franklin; sisters Ruby Stowe, Dreatha Shults, his favorite saddle horses Wolf, Jose and Twister. Survivors include his wife Kate of the home in Tolar; a son Jerry Franklin and wife Carolyn of Tucumcari; daughter Linda Mitchell and husband Derrill of Tolar; four grandsons Brent Mitchell and wife Julie of Tolar; Brian Mitchell and wife Holli of Lubbock, TX; Wade Franklin and wife Clayton of Lubbock, TX; Clay Franklin and wife Traci of Clovis; three brothers Charles Franklin and wife Linda of House; Clifford Franklin of House and Derrell Franklin and wife Karen of Melrose also surviving are six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Durward Wofford officiating, burial will follow at House Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent Mitchell, Brian Mitchell, Wade Franklin, Clay Franklin, Bryan Mitchell, Miles Mitchell, and Tobby Mitchell. Honorary bearers will be his Branding Crew.
