Manuel Marquez

Manuel Marquez, 79 a longtime Puerto De Luna resident died Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Laurel Ridge Care Center in Clovis, NM following an illness. Manuel was born August 25, 1927 in Anton Chico, NM to the home of Artenio and Eufelia (Saiz) Marquez. Manuel worked for several years as a custodian for the Santa Rosa Public Schools. Following his retirement he worked and volunteered his time with the Puerto De Luna Senior Citizens Center. He was also a past member of the Puerto De Luna Volunteer Fire Department. Manuel enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Liria Marquez, a daughter Aurelia Marquez, three brothers Frank, Eutenio and Vicente Marquez. Survivors include a son Robert Marquez and wife Frances of Espanola, NM; a daughter Liria Rael and husband Daniel of Tucumcari, NM; four grandchildren Justin Rael, Robert Marquez Jr., Anita Martinez and Cynthis Marquez. Also surviving is a sister Alice Montoya along with five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 7, 2007 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 8, 2007 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Pallbearers will be Justin Rael, Robert Marqeuz Jr., David Marquez, Kenneth Marquez, Richard Chavez, and Frank Madrid.
