Heraldo P. Baca, 91 a longtime Vaughn, NM resident died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Laurel Ridge Care Center in Clovis, NM. Heraldo was born June 6, 1916 in Pintada, NM the son of Celedon Baca and the former Oralda Sandoval. He attended school at Pintada. Heraldo was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 31, 1942, he served with Company C, 76th Infantry until his honorable discharge. Heraldo worked as a cook in Vaughn, New Mexico for many years. He became a resident of the Pecos Valley Care Center in Fort Sumner in 2001 before moving to the Laurel Ridge Care Center in Clovis, NM. He was preceded in death by a daughter Gloria Ortega in 2006 and his parents. Survivors include four sons Celedon Baca of Santa Rosa; Gerald Baca and wife Jane of Santa Rosa; Johnny Baca and wife Helen of Tucumcari, NM; Donald Baca and wife Corrine of Springer, NM; four daughters Candy Lucero and husband Candido of Milagro, NM; Alice Marquez of Santa Rosa; Anna Baca of Santa Rosa; and Lillian Valverde of Arizona. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. A family visitation was held on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa. Cremation will take place. Graveside interment services with military honors will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 13, 2007 from the Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn, New Mexico.
