Isabel Lopez

Isabel Lopez, age 65, passed away November 9, 2006 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque following an extended illness. Isabel was born October 26, 1941 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of E.G. and Vicenta Austin Salas. She was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Isabel married Jose D. Lopez on October 6, 1961 in Santa Rosa. She worked at the Guadalupe County Hospital for 13 years and later worked with the Santa Rosa Consolidated Schools as a Secretary for 29 ½ years. While working at the High School and later at the Elementary School, Isabel formed a special bond with all the students and staff. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and watching her Soap Opera’s and most especially her family. She was not only a wife, mother and grandmother to her husband, daughters and grandchildren but also their best friend. She devoted her life to her family, her sister and brothers. She had many friends, and each of those friends held a very special place in her heart. Isabel will truly be missed by all especially her husband, Jose Lopez, her three daughters, Judy Lopez, Debra Lopez, Barbara Lopez and Tommy Campos, five grandchildren; Delano Chavez, Vicente Chavez, Dennica Chavez, Larissa Campos, Tomas Campos, and her very special great grand daughter Mikaya Isabel, four brothers; Marcos Salas and wife Teresa, Randy Salas, Gary Salas, and Dicky Salas and her many relatives and friends. Isabel is preceded in death by her parents, her sister; Rita Salas, brothers; Eddie and Tommy Salas. As per Isabel’s wish, her body has been cremated. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, November 13, at 7:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 14, at 11:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Gerald Johnson officiating. Burial of Isabel’s cremains will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Campos, Sonny Austin and the Santa Rosa Elementary School Staff .
