Herman Felix Ulibarri, 62 of Fort Sumner, NM died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at University of NM Hospital following a sudden illness. Herman was born April 24, 1948 in Placita Blanca, Rio Arriba County to the home of Manuel and Maria Ulibarri. He grew up in Tierra Amarilla and moved to Bloomfield, NM at the age of 6. He attended school in Bloomfield. Herman married Rafelita M. Sanchez on April 20, 1968 in Blanco, NM. They made their home in the Bloomfield and Farmington area until 1984. They made Fort Sumner their home in 1984. Herman worked for 25 years at the Power Plants in Fruitland, NM; for the past 15 years he was employed by G & C Plumbing and Heating in Fort Sumner. Herman enjoyed visiting the casinos and rabbit hunting. He was a longtime member of The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner. He is preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Maria Ulibarri. Herman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be missed by his family, his wife Rafelita Ulibarri of Fort Sumner; a daughter Alisha Abeyta and husband Chad of Fort Sumner; three sons Donovan Ulibarri and wife Parilee of Portales; Deon Ulibarri and wife Raquel of Clovis; Joel Ulibarri and Tianna Gallegos of Fort Sumner; a brother Alfredo Ulibarri and wife Olga of Bloomfield; three sisters Cassie Laux of Albuquerque; Vera Velasquez and husband Fidel of Bloomfield and Cleo Ulibarri of Farmington. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews along with a host of other family, friends and co-workers. Visitation will be held Friday from 10AM to 6PM at the funeral home and Saturday from 10AM to 11AM at the Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 20, 2010 from The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner with Pastor Anna Teeter officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Interment of Cremains will take place at a later date in Aztec, NM. Pallbearers will include Fabian Ulibarri, Jack Campbell, Carl Gallegos, Carlos Sena, Stash Sena, Aurelio Lopez and Jose Blea. Honorary bearers will include Deon Ulibarri Jr., Isaiah Ulibarri, Max Chavez, Santiago Abeyta, Nathanael Abeyta, Christopher Lucero, Alexandria Miera, Marcos Miera and Antonio Miera.
