Dilia Gutierrez, age 76, passed away October 4, 2006 in Albuquerque following an illness. Dilia was born January 16, 1930 in Newkirk, NM to the home of Marcos and Brigida Gonzales Griego. She was reared and attended schools in Newkirk. Dilia married George P. Gutierrez on Febuary 1968 in Santa Rosa. Dilia worked for the Santa Rosa Consolidated Schools as a cook at the High School for 28 years. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she was active in the Sacred Heart Society and Las Hija's de Maria. Dilia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Gutierrez, sisters; Eva Sierra and Stella Maes. Survivors include her son Robert Griego and wife Joann of Albuquerque, sisters; Vera Lucero and Helen Hendren both of Tucumcari, her brother; I.A. "Shorty" Griego of Fort Sumner and an aunt Eloisa Lopez also of Fort Sumner. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Friday, October 6, at 7:00 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Ocotber 7, at 11:00 also from St. Rose Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Ralph Sierra, Steve Sierra, Gene Sierra, Daniel Lee Sierra, Roy Gonzales and Dennis Gonzales. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be all her many friends. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
