Gilberto Lovato, 71, died July 27, 2006, at Mission Community Hospital in Panorama City, CA. Gilberto was born on February 4, 1935 to Beneranda Gonzales and Theodoro Lovato. He was raised in Fort Sumner. He married Rebecca Casaus and in 1965 they moved to Los Angeles, California where he worked as a carpenter until his retirement, he then continued to work as a handyman. Survivors include wife Rebecca; sons Gilbert Lovato Jr. of Los Angeles and Henry Lovato of Needles, CA; daughters Dolores Lovato and companion Jim Espinosa of Los Angeles, Odilia Marron and husband Mauricio also of Los Angeles, Joann Lovato of Northridge, CA and Martha Sena and husband George of Fort Sumner; brothers Enrique Lovato and wife Estella of Fort Sumner and Ted Lovato and wife Tillie of Albuquerque; 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents Theodoro and Beneranda Lovato; sister Juanita Lovato; daughter-in-law Susan Lovato and granddaughter Cindy Sena. A rosary service prayed by Maria Nunez and memorial service with Father Sean Carroll officiating was held at Felipe Bagues Mortuary in Los Angeles on Monday July 31. Cremation has taken place. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, Father Jerry Johnson will officiate. Interment of cremains will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Local Arrangements are entrusted to Chavez Funeral Home, 804 N. Fifth Street; Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
