Services for Loreta (Blakeley) Davenport, 94 of Altus, OK will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 11, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner with Rev. Nathan Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Loreta died Monday, September 6, 2010 at her home in Altus, Oklahoma. She was born December 13, 1915 in Dawn, MO to the home of Harry Garfield Blakeley and the former Rosa May Wooden. She was reared in SE Missouri, attended schools in Oklahoma, Arkansas and graduated from high school at Pineville, MO. She attended college in Boliver, MO. Loreta married William Davenport on July 8, 1939 in Senath, MO. She was a school teacher in Lenawe County, Michigan and Covina, CA. Bill and Loreta made their home in Fort Sumner, NM from 1990-2005 before moving to Altus, OK. Loreta is preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Davenport on January 19, 2010; her parents; an infant brother Harry James Blakeley, daughter Judith Davenport in 1994, two sisters Violet Roberta Blakeley, Myra Howard and a brother Beryl Blakeley in 2008. She is survived by a son James Blakeley Davenport and wife Connie of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren Scott Davenport and wife Heather of Fort Sumner; Kathy Woodard of Oklahoma City, OK; Jenny Miller of California; six great-grandchildren Wyatt Woodard, Miranda Woodard, Cassandra Miller, Jessica Miller, Samantha Miller and Coby Miller. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10AM to 6PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street; Fort Sumner, New Mexico. (575) 355-2311.
