Bernard “Bernie” “PaPa” Hale, age 70 of Lake Sumner, NM died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, NM following an illness. He was born September 15, 1939 in Greenfield, Massachusetts to the home of Donald and Dorothy (Purrington) Hale. He was a residential contractor. Bernie made his home at Lake Sumner in 1994. He was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he served in various offices in the organization. Bernie loved and spent many hours at Sandy Beach on the shore of Lake Sumner. Anytime the weather permitted his family and friends knew where to find him. He also enjoyed watching Sunday football with his family and friends. Bernie is preceded in death by his parents; a son Kurt Hale and a great-grandson Cyle Hale. Survivors include his lifetime love and wife Jean Evans of Lake Sumner; two daughters Sandra Frodsham and husband Scott of Albuquerque; Jean Marie Moulton and husband William of Albuquerque; two sons Michael Bedaw of Fort Sumner and Gary Evans and wife Christy of Albuquerque. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place, a private memorial will be held. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
