Andrea L. Chavez

Andrea L. Chavez, 84, beloved mother and grandmother went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 6, 2010. She was born April 7, 1926 in San Ignacio, NM to the home of Francisco and Miquelita (Segura) Lopez. She was reared at San Ignacio and Santa Rosa. Andrea worked for several years as a Cook for the Campos Senior Citizen Center in Santa Rosa, NM. Andrea enjoyed cooking and baking for her grandchildren, arts and crafts, quilting, and sewing for her family. She made the best homemade bread and loved to play bingo at the Senior Center. For the past 10 years she has made her home in Clovis, NM, the past eight years at the Retirement Ranch. Andrea is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Demecio Chavez; a brother Gregorio Lopez and two sisters Rita Abeyta and Asencion Garcia. Survivors include five daughters Corrine Chavez and husband Erminio of Santa Rosa; Sylvia Gutierrez and husband Jerry of Albuquerque; Yolanda Acosta and husband Diego of Amarillo, TX; Margaret Rodriguez and husband Alfonso of Clovis; Angela Martinez and husband Theodore of Santa Rosa; also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; one sister Lucinda Lopez; three brothers, Ramon Lopez, Hipolito Lopez and Ventura Lopez all of Santa Rosa. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, August 9, 2010 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Mass will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 10, 2010 with Father Joseph Thomas CMI officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with her grandsons, Ted Martinez, Lawrence Rodriguez, Diego Acosta, Eric Chavez, Rick Gutierrez and Stephen Rodriguez serving as pallbearers.
